Multiple reports indicate that Luke Evangelista has signed a five-year contract extension with the New Jersey Devils, beginning in the 2027-28 season. The New Jersey Devils confirmed the deal on social media, while hockey reporter Chris Johnston provided additional details about the financial structure of the contract.
Evangelista, 24, is a right-winger who currently plays for the Nashville Predators. In the 2025-26 season, he recorded 12 goals, 44 assists, and 56 points in 81 games, with 17 power-play points and a +1 rating. These numbers place him in the role of a top-six forward. Over his career, he has appeared in 253 games, scoring 45 goals and recording 97 assists for 142 points.
Later reports from Chris Johnston revealed that the contract carries an average annual value of $7.25 million. The total value of the contract is $36.25 million, with more than 60% of the amount paid in signing bonuses. Johnston noted that the contract was registered minutes before midnight, which allowed the Devils to structure the deal in a way that would not have been permitted otherwise.
The Devils have now secured a key forward for the next five seasons. Evangelista's ability to produce at an elite level in the top-six role makes him a valuable addition to the team's long-term plans.
